Spotlight on Brooke Tinsley: Leading with Heart and Strategy in Summer Math

Meet Brooke Tinsley, our amazing Summer Math Lead Tutor! She inspired our students to grow in confidence and master core math skills.

This summer, PicScience welcomed Brooke Tinsley as the lead tutor for our Summer Math Program, and her impact was nothing short of remarkable.

Working closely with 4th–6th grade students, Brooke dedicated her summer to helping young learners strengthen their foundational math skills. From multiplication and division to fractions and word problems, she guided students through challenging concepts with clarity, patience, and enthusiasm. What truly set Brooke apart was her ability to adapt her teaching to meet each student’s unique learning style, a skill that built their competence and confidence.

A cornerstone of Brooke’s role was her strategic use of PicScience’s assessment platform to monitor student progress. By analyzing performance data, she identified areas where students struggled and developed individualized strategies to help them improve. This data-driven approach required critical thinking, real-time decision-making, and evidence-based planning, qualities that define strong leaders and problem-solvers in any field.

But Brooke’s contributions went beyond academics. She cultivated a supportive classroom environment where students felt organized, focused, and motivated. She inspired her students to embrace challenges and believe in their potential through mentorship grounded in patience, resilience, and positivity. The growth we witnessed in our students this summer directly reflected Brooke’s encouragement and guidance.

Brooke’s time with PicScience exemplified what it means to lead with both heart and strategy. The communication, mentorship, and problem-solving skills she demonstrated will undoubtedly serve her well as she moves forward into a career in nursing, where explaining complex concepts, making data-informed decisions, and showing compassion under pressure are essential.
